Responsible for leading a team of assigned Portfolio Managers, Sr. Analysts, Analysts and Portfolio Specialists and actively managing PM pipeline for new and renewing credits, workflow and issue resolution, keeping all stakeholders proactively informed on workflow management. Leads the day-to-day operation of the designated PM team, including but not limited to, owning risk management view and activities within assigned portfolio; reinforcing consistent execution of the Commercial credit process; on-boarding of new teammates across the segment, and inspecting adherence to expected risk management metrics. Ensures that the assigned portfolio objectives of soundness, profitability, and growth are achieved through support of underwriting and portfolio management activities.
Effectively manages all credit approval including new money, reviews, renewals, waivers and amendments within the delegated lending authority as prescribed by corporate risk management and governance.
Coaches and provides training to a staff of professionals of varying skill levels with respect to individual client and portfolio risk management disciplines. Strong partnership building skills. Ensures adequate staffing for respective team, including coordination with recruiting to maintain strong pipeline of PM team talent and filing open positions in a timely fashion.
Has achieved a mastery level knowledge of the risk acceptance criteria within segment and local market dynamics. Assumes overall responsibility for all underwriting and portfolio management functions within the team. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
8+ years of demonstrated financial services experience with banking products in large markets or with portfolios of the most complexity.
Demonstrated management and leadership experience in Commercial Banking portfolio management. Preferred Requirements:
MBA or advanced degree or
8-10 years of SunTrust credit experience
